Grand Theft Auto quite rightly takes most of the plaudits, but Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption games are incredibly impressive nonetheless. More than half a decade on from its original release, Red Dead Redemption 2 remains one of the most immersive and well-written video games ever made, which has resulted in more than 60 million lifetime sales. My game of the week, with little surprise, is Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. I am enjoying the little differences from the GameCube version and feel a bit jealous of folks discovering this entry for the first time. Make no mistake, this is not only the definitive entry in the series, it is quite possibly one of the best games I’ve played in my life. Since this is an upgraded port of a Wii U game, Nintendo also included an extra game called Bowser's Fury, which plays more like a traditional 3D Mario title where you have to work with Bowser Jr. (Player 2 can control him!) to find cat shines on a series of islands to save them from a massive, Godzilla-sized Bowser. When it comes to spin-off games and series, they really don't come much bigger than Mario Kart. The first of Mario's many side projects is bigger than most mainline franchises, as evidenced by the impressive sales figures of Mario Kart 8.
